اگر دو شی یا شخص را در صفتی با هم مقایسه کنیم و آن دو در آن صفت مساوی باشند برابری آنها را با عبارت زیر نشان می دهیم:

as+ صفت+ as

I am 70 Kilos. My brother is also 70 Kilos

با دو روش زیر می توانیم عبارت بالا را بنویسیم؛

I am as heavy as my brother

My brother is as heavy as me

مثال بعدی:

Jalal is 50 years old. Jalil is 50 years old
Jalal is as old as Jalil

Reza is 6 feet tall. Javad is 6 feet tall
Reza is as tall as Java

This car is as clean as that one
این ماشین به تمیزی اون ماشینه

اگر دو شخص یا شی در قیدی مثل هم باشند.قید مورد تساوی را بین دو as می اوریم

He works as hard as Ali
او مثل علی سخت کار میکنه

She drives as carefully as her mother
او مثل مادرش با دقت رانندگی میکنه

وقتی هر یک از این جملات به صورت #منفی به کار برود وضعیت می تواند به این صورت باشد:

not as….as

مثال ها:

They are not as new as these ones
آنها به جدیدی اینها نیستند

She’s not as fat as that girl
او به چاقی اون دختر نیست

So we use “as + adjective/adverb + as” to make comparisons when the things we are comparing are equal in some ways

مثالها:

The world’s biggest bull is as big as a small elephant

The weather this summer is as bad as last year. It hasn’t stopped raining for weeks

Not as … as

We use “not as … as” to make comparisons between things which aren’t equal

It’s not as heavy as I thought it would be, actually

Ali hasn’t grown as tall as Tommy yet

نکته مهم:
اگر به جای صفت یک اسم داشتیم به جای as…..as از the same….as استفاده میکنیم و در جای خالی یک اسم میگذاریم

Tom is as old as John= Tom is the same age as John

= My house is as big as your house= My house is the same size as your house
They are the same size

اگر نخواهیم اسم دوم مورد تساوی را ذکر کنیم نیاز به as بعد از the same نیست.

Tom is the same age as John. They are the same age
