در نقل قول جملات امری از مصدر با to استفاده می شود.

“She said to him, “send me the check

She told him to send her the check

در مواردی که فعل جمله منفی باشد از not به همراه مصدر با to استفاده می کنیم.

“He said to them, “Don’t smoke here

He told them not to smoke there

اگر در جمله ای از قید never یا Don’t ever  استفاده شده باشد، برای نقل قول از never to استفاده می کنیم.

He said to his son, “Don’t ever be rude to people”

He told his son never to be rude to people
